In August, our then 9 month old daughter, was diagnosed with a rare form of Leukemia. We have been in the hospital with her for over 8 months helping her fight this difficult disease as hard as we can. We had a few months of it looking like there could be light at the end of the tunnel, however last week we got devastating news, Melody's body has stopped responding to cancer treatments. This means that we have returned home and will be beginning hospice care. Thankfully Melody is still happy and enjoying life, however we know we are now on borrowed time as it is not expected that Melody will make it to her second birthday.
We are blessed to live an amazing life as the owners of Walking Wild and the primary caretakers of our amazing animals. We have devoted our life and home to saving amazing animals. This is a life that Melody loves, as she is obsessed with her animals. Running an animal sanctuary that is home to 179 foxes, 7 coyotes, 6 skunks, 3 wolf dogs and some barnyard friends keeps us constantly busy with projects and fundraising taking up a large amount of mental space and physical time. With the unexpected, sudden and rapid decline of our baby daughter's health we are asking for your help to allow us to make the most of every moment we have left with her. This fundraiser will allow us to do three big things that will make a huge impact on helping us enjoy what little time we have left with our precious daughter, but not letting our mission stop/slow or the animals in our care be impacted.
1) Cover general operating expenses for 6 months
2) Pay off all of our outstanding bills
3) Allow David to not just complete our mission forwarding projects, but get additional help so that he can spend more time with Melody and less time on construction projects she can't be part of.
This is not a place in life we ever thought we would be. As we work through this heartbreaking time and try to enjoy and cherish every moment, your support means more than we could ever express.
