Walking Wild currently provides a home for and specializes in the care of four different species of fox: Red, Arctic, Gray and Fennec

Red Fox

Arctic Fox

Arctic Fox

Red foxes aren't all red, in fact, in captivity they occur in over 70 different colors! As the most popular species of fox to be purchased as a "pet" and bred for fur, this is the fox species the majority of foxes that call Walking Wild home are. We have customized enclosures, facilities, treatment areas and enrichment unique to Walking Wild tailored to the specific needs of every red type fox from hours old to the prime of their golden years.

Arctic Fox

These adorable little marshmallows are a unique species of fox with special needs all of their own. Dd you know that Arctic fox are a communal species? Walking Wild is home to more Arctic fox than any other captive bred fox rescue in the US. We pride ourselves in the specialized care and knowledge we have of this unique fox species and what it takes to provide them with the best life possible.

Gray Fox

Fennec Fox

Fennec Fox

Although not considered a true fox, since they are not classified as a vulpes, Gray fox are a one-of-a-kind species with one-of-a-kind needs that vary from any other fox species. Did you know gray fox are fantastic tree climbers and even have semi-retractable claws, similar to a cat? This unique species requires a unique environment to thrive and be happy. That environment can be found here at Walking Wild

Fennec Fox

Fennec Fox

This tiny but mighty little fox is the smallest species of fox. Being a dessert fox, Fennecs have very special environmental needs as well as diet and exercise. Turning the four-seasons of Ohio into the perfect home for this special little fox requires specialized facilities and extra climate controlling measures, all of which you can find here at Walking Wild.

Walking Wild Rescue is a 501(c)3 nonprofit fox rescue that was founded in 2020. Walking Wild founders Molly and David Schulz, have over 60 years of combined experience working with animals from wildlife, barnyard friends, exotics and domestic pets. Always having a passion for animals and rescue, it wasn't until two little foxes came into their lives that Walking Wild was born out of a need to provide a safe haven for these amazing animals in a ways that didn't already exist and a love for these crazy canines.. Molly and David founded Walking Wild to protect, love and advocate for the amazing little canines they are honored to share their lives with and to set a new standard for the care and environment provided in captive bred fox rescue.
